Setup guide

Set up IPTV on an LG Smart TV

LG Smart TVs run webOS, a system that supports several IPTV player apps. Once the app is installed from the LG Content Store, you add your Vepix TV subscription from a smartphone or computer, and your TV is ready.

IPTV on an LG Smart TV

What you need

  • An LG Smart TV running webOS, with the latest updates installed.
  • A stable connection of about 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K.
  • Your Vepix TV login details, sent by email after payment.
  • A smartphone or computer to activate the app.

Which app should I choose?

Three apps available on the LG Content Store work with your subscription:

  • IBO Player: clear interface, accepts M3U links and Xtream Codes.
  • Hot IPTV: a simple app that works the same way.
  • Bay IPTV: an alternative if the first two are not available on your model.

All three apps work the same way: they display a MAC address and a device key, which you use to send your subscription to the TV from the app publisher’s website. They offer a free trial period, then a paid licence per TV, paid directly to the app publisher and not to Vepix TV. The price and trial length are shown on the publisher’s website.

Step 1: install the app from the LG Content Store

  1. Press the Home button (house) on the Magic Remote.
  2. Open the LG Content Store (or “Apps”, depending on your webOS version).
  3. Use the search to find the app, for example “IBO Player”.
  4. Select Install, then open the app.

Step 2: note the TV's codes

The app displays the TV’s MAC address and a device key on screen, along with the address of the publisher’s website. Take a photo of this screen: it will save you from copying mistakes.

Step 3: send your subscription to the TV

In the email containing your Vepix TV login details, you will find two ways to connect: an M3U link and Xtream Codes details (server address, username and password). When the app offers both, choose Xtream Codes: the programme guide and content categories are loaded automatically. The details are explained in M3U link or Xtream Codes: what’s the difference?

  1. From your smartphone or computer, go to the publisher’s website.
  2. Go to the add-playlist page and enter your LG TV’s MAC address and key.
  3. Select the Xtream Codes option, then enter the server address, username and password. You can also paste the M3U link.
  4. Name the playlist “Vepix TV” and save.

Step 4: watch

On the TV, exit the app and open it again. Choose the “Vepix TV” playlist: the Live, Movies and Series categories load. Allow one or two minutes the first time.

Tips for a smooth picture

  • Recent LG TVs have an Ethernet port: a cable to your router gives the best stability.
  • On Wi-Fi, prefer the 5 GHz network and avoid keeping your router shut inside a cabinet.

Common problems

“Playlist not found” or empty playlist

Check the MAC address entered on the website and your login details, character by character. Then restart the app. Our article M3U or Xtream Codes lists the most common typing errors.

The app is not in the LG Content Store

On older versions of webOS, not every app is available. Try another recommended app, or plug a Fire TV Stick into the TV.

The picture freezes
